Can anyone guide me on buying a simple digital camera? what are pixels? what is a good make?
I have wanted to buy a digital camera for a while now. But just dont even know where to start... what are the main features I should look for high no of pixels etc?
Answer
Heres where to start Canon digital cameras are really the best you can buy for the money. Canon jumped into the digital camera market with both feet about a decade ago, so they have a huge head start over the other companies. Their cameras are very userfriendly and you get a good product with a lot of features for a low price. For example, I bought a Canon PowerShot A for ., and its really a great little camera. I looked at Nikon, Olympus, and Kodak digital cameras that cost more but didnt have all the features that my Canon has.brbrWhat kind of features should you look for? Well, the camera should have at least a X optical zoom for closeups, and it should be at least . megapixel so you can blow up your digital photos to screen size without distortion. The rest is up to you. Some people like to have the bigger LCD screens on the back of the camera so they can see what theyre about to take a picture of, some people like the very slim digital cameras for convenience of putting them in pockets or purses, etc.brbrA good place to start is Yahoo Shopping. You can look at the various models and compare prices. A couple of things to remember though Digital cameras go through batteries very quickly, so you should invest in a good set of rechargeable batteries. Some cameras have their own rechargeable batteries builtin, but most of them take AA or AAA batteries. For those, Energizer rechargeable batteries work very well. Theyre not cheap though . for a set of four and a charger. Youll also want to invest in extra memory. Most digital cameras come with MB memory cards, which hold about pictures. If you want to take lots of pictures, youll need at least a MB card I would recommend a GB card. You can find GB memory cards on sale at Best Buy or Circuit City for about .. The important thing is to be sure youre getting the right kind of memory card. Most digital cameras use SD memory cards, but not all of them do Canon digital cameras do though. So to be sure, you should ask when you buy the camera or get the camera first and then take the memory card with you to the store to make sure you get the right one.
